Privacy Policy.

Short version: I collect the least amount of information I can to run this site and reply to enquiries, I don't sell anything about you, and analytics only ever run if you say yes. The long version is below.

Who this is

This policy covers luisvaldez.co.uk. It's run by me, Luis Roquette Valdez, an individual based in the Lisbon area, Portugal — not a company. For anything to do with this policy or your information, email luisrvaldez@gmail.com.

What I collect

The contact form

If you fill in the form on the Contact page, I receive whatever you enter: your name, email address, message, and — if you fill them in — the project type and preferred date. The form is relayed by FormSubmit, a third-party service that forwards submissions straight to my inbox and doesn't use them for anything else. I use your details only to reply to you about your enquiry.

Browsing the site

The cookie banner offers two separate choices, because they do different things — accepting one doesn't accept the other:

  • Analytics — Google Analytics (GA4) records standard usage data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring site, and time spent. This tells me which parts of the site are actually useful. Your IP address is anonymised before it's stored.
  • Marketing — the Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) records that you visited and which pages, so I can measure whether any advertising I run actually leads anywhere, and, if I ever run ads, so Meta can build a comparison ("lookalike") audience from visitors. This is the only category that can affect ads you see elsewhere.

If you decline both, or don't respond to the banner, neither loads and no related cookies are set — the site works identically either way.

Cookies

Nothing is set until you tick a category and confirm on the cookie banner. Here's everything that can end up in your browser:

  • _ga, _ga_* — set by Google Analytics if you accept Analytics, to tell visitors apart. Expires after up to 2 years.
  • _fbp, _fbc — set by the Meta Pixel if you accept Marketing, to tell visitors apart and match ad clicks. Retention is set by Meta — see Meta's Cookie Policy for the current period.
  • lv_cookie_consent — set by this site as soon as you make a choice, so it doesn't ask again. This is stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie, and stays until you clear your browser data or change your choice.

You can change either choice at any time using in the footer of every page.

Embedded video

Videos on this site (on Work and in the Mais do que Amor, é Fado pieces) are embedded from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain and don't load until you click play. Once you do, YouTube may set its own cookies and process your IP address to serve the video — that's between you and YouTube at that point; see Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle it.

Who I share it with

I don't sell your information. Depending on which categories you accept, it can reach:

  • FormSubmit.co — to relay contact-form messages to my inbox. Always, if you use the contact form.
  • Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) — for Analytics, only if you've accepted that category. Google may process this outside the European Economic Area under its own compliance mechanisms (the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses).   • Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited / Meta Platforms, Inc.) — for the Pixel, only if you've accepted Marketing. Meta may likewise process this outside the EEA under its own compliance mechanisms. See Meta's Privacy Policy for details.

How long I keep it

Contact-form messages sit in my email inbox for as long as they're reasonably useful to the enquiry — typically no more than a couple of years — and I delete them when they're not. Analytics and Marketing data are kept according to Google's and Meta's own retention settings on my accounts there, not indefinitely by me.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can ask me to: give you access to your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how it's used, object to its use, or hand it over in a portable format. You can also withdraw cookie consent at any time using the link above. To use any of these, email luisrvaldez@gmail.com. If you think I've mishandled your data, you can also complain to Portugal's data protection authority, the CNPD.

Children

This site isn't aimed at children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, and the third parties named above maintain their own security measures. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect the little information this site handles.

Changes

If what this site collects or how it's used changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
