Content License & Usage Terms
In short
Everything on this website — every photograph, image, video, audio recording and line of code — is mine, and all rights to it are reserved. You're welcome to view it here. You may not copy, download, screenshot, reuse, republish, modify, train a model on, or distribute it anywhere, for any purpose — personal, commercial, non-profit or community — without my prior written permission. If you'd like to use something, email me and ask; most reasonable requests get a straightforward answer.
1. Who this applies to and what it covers
This Content License & Usage Terms ("License") is issued by Luis Roquette Valdez, an individual based in the Lisbon area, Portugal, trading and presenting his work as "Luis Valdez" ("I", "me", "my"), and governs all use of the content made available at luisvaldez.co.uk and its subdomains (the "Site").
"Content" means all original material I have created, produced or contributed to that appears on the Site, including without limitation:
- photographs and still images, in any resolution, crop, or format;
- video footage, films and live-session recordings, including thumbnails and individual frames extracted from them;
- audio recordings, sound design and music captured or produced by me;
- source code, scripts, markup, stylesheets and other programming or technical work that builds or runs the Site; and
- written text, captions, titles and other copy I have authored for the Site,
together with any compilation, arrangement, or selection of the above as presented on the Site. Content remains mine whether it is viewed directly on a page, embedded via a player, linked to a hosting service such as YouTube or Flickr, or encountered through a search engine, social share, or any other route into the Site.
2. Ownership and reserved rights
I own the copyright, and any other intellectual property rights that may apply (including moral rights, performers' rights where relevant, and database rights in any compiled material), in all Content, except where a specific page states otherwise. Nothing on the Site transfers, assigns, or licenses any of those rights to a visitor, except for the single limited permission set out in Section 4 below.
All rights not expressly granted in this License are reserved. The absence of a copyright symbol, watermark, or notice on a particular image, clip, or page does not mean that item is free to use — this License applies to the Content as a whole, across the entire Site, regardless of whether an individual piece is separately marked.
3. What you may not do
Without my prior written consent, you may not, in whole or in part, and whether for personal, commercial, non-profit, educational, or community use:
- copy, download, capture, screen-record, or otherwise reproduce any Content, by any means and in any format;
- distribute, publish, broadcast, retransmit, upload, or otherwise make any Content available to any other person or the public, including on another website, app, social media account, newsletter, print publication, broadcast, or physical display;
- modify, edit, crop, recolour, remix, translate, or create any derivative work based on any Content;
- sell, rent, license, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit any Content, or incorporate it into a product or service offered to others;
- use any Content to train, fine-tune, prompt, benchmark, or otherwise develop any artificial intelligence or machine-learning model or system, or include it in any dataset used for that purpose;
- scrape, systematically download, crawl, or use automated tools to collect Content from the Site, other than the ordinary indexing behaviour of recognised search engines;
- frame, mirror, hotlink, or embed any Content on another site or app in a way that presents it outside the Site's own pages and player;
- remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notice, watermark, credit line, or metadata attached to any Content; or
- use my name, "Luis Valdez," any associated logo or branding, or the likeness of any identifiable person appearing in the Content, to imply an endorsement, affiliation, or sponsorship that does not exist.
This restriction applies regardless of your location or the location of your intended use. It is not limited to any single country, territory, or legal jurisdiction.
4. What you may do
I grant a narrow, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to view and browse the Content on the Site itself, through a standard web browser, for your own personal, non-commercial reference — nothing more. Ordinary device- and browser-level caching that happens automatically while you view a page is covered by this permission; deliberately saving, exporting, or retaining a copy of any Content beyond that incidental cache is not.
Sharing a direct link to a page on the Site (for example, posting the Site's own URL) is permitted and welcomed. Copying the Content itself and posting it elsewhere is not — link to the page, don't take the file.
5. Requesting permission
I'm generally open to licensing specific photographs, footage, or other Content for a clearly described use — editorial, commercial, archival, educational, or otherwise. The quickest way to start is the license request form — paste in a link to the photo or video you mean, or just describe it, and the rest takes a minute to fill in. You're welcome to email me instead if you'd rather. Either way, include:
- which specific Content you'd like to use (a link or description);
- exactly how, where, and for how long you intend to use it;
- whether the use is commercial, non-profit, editorial, or personal; and
- the territory the use will reach (online use is treated as worldwide unless you specify otherwise).
Request form: luisvaldez.co.uk/license/request/ · Email: luisrvaldez@gmail.com
Filling in or sending either of these is a request for a quote, not a license. Permission is only valid once I've confirmed it in writing (including by email) — a lack of response is not consent. Any permission I do give is limited to the exact use described and agreed, and does not extend to any other Content, use, or time period.
6. Enforcement
I actively monitor use of my work and reserve the right to pursue any available legal remedy against unauthorised use of the Content, including requesting removal or takedown from hosting platforms and search engines, seeking damages, and seeking injunctive relief, in any jurisdiction where the infringement occurs or where the infringing party is found. Copyright in the Content is protected automatically under the Berne Convention and equivalent international treaties in the vast majority of countries worldwide, independent of registration.
7. No warranty
The Content is made available for viewing "as is." I make no warranty that any particular item will remain available on the Site, and I may remove, replace, or alter Content at any time without notice.
8. Changes to this License
I may update this License from time to time to reflect new types of Content, new ways the Site is used, or changes in the law. The version in effect is the one published on this page; the date at the top shows when it was last revised.
9. Governing law
This License is governed by the laws of Portugal. Any dispute arising from it is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon, Portugal, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that may apply in your own country and cannot be contracted away.
