Tasca do Chico opened in 1996 in a former olive-and-cured-meat warehouse on Rua Diário de Notícias, Bairro Alto. The Museu do Fado's own guide calls it a mandatory stop for fado vadio — the amateur, open-floor tradition — where working fadistas often turn up to sing informally after their own paid gigs elsewhere.
Filipe Acácio is Capítulo VI's guest singer, recorded live in the room at Tasca do Chico on the night this chapter captures.
The song is "Ai se os meus olhos falassem" — the poem by Jerónimo Bragança, a career writer at Emissora Nacional for 36 years whose lyrics also opened the 1958 Festival da Canção Portuguesa.
The music is by Carlos Nóbrega e Sousa, a composer and three-time RTP song festival winner who partnered with Bragança again on "Sol de Inverno" in 1965 — this one a specific song many different fadistas have made their own over the years, rather than a fixed melody carrying new words each time.
Francisco Pereira joins the series for the first time on guitarra portuguesa, alongside João Domingos on guitarra acústica — the same pairing of instruments that's carried every chapter since Capítulo II.
Tiago Correia hosts, as he has every chapter of this project. Recorded on the 28th of May 2026, in a room built for exactly this — voices arriving uninvited and staying anyway.
